Helvi has painted all of her grown life taking her inspiration from nature and the people of her beautiful Västerbotten in the north of Sweden. She has exhibited in many places including 6 separate exhibitions. The most recent was in July 2000 in Vindeln just outside of Umeå.
Helvi's paintings have many themes. From pure landskape to people and on to nonfigurative images. She also has painted large murals. For exemple this wall in a Thai restaurant in Umeå
Helvi Andersson was born in a small town north of Rovaniemi in Finland. She moved with her mother to the västerbotten town of Åsele as a young girl. Helvi married and moved in 1958 with her husband Eskil to Umeå.
She soon found employment as a waitress and started a long career as a bartender. She has achieved the title of drink master and competes often with her own recipes and has won among others the 1992 EM in drink mixing.
