Our last evening was spent at the opening night concert of the Hollywood Bowl.
On this evening they open the gates several hours early. The Bowl patrons partake of a gourmet dinner in their boxes. Food is delivered by waiters in white jackets who rush around serving wine.
We bought a box dinner from one of several shops just outside and carried it in with us.
We had reserved our tickets on the internet and we moved to a Motel 6 in Hollywood in order to be able to walk to the bowl. Taking pictures was forbidden so we couldn't do a good coverage forced as we were to work undercover.
The huge balls suspended over the orchestra are there for acoustical reasons. Next year the whole area will be redesigned in order to further enhance the Bowls natural acoustics.

musicians Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt and her father John Raitt. Eric Idle represented Monty Python which/who was to be inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame
Also appearing: Jeff Bridges, Constance Towers, John Williams, Robin Williams and others.

The last thing on the program were fireworks to the music of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra led by John Mauceri who you can see on the screen.
It was a nice combination - fireworks exploding as part of the music.
