This cutout, full scale sign stands on the outskirts of Dodge City, Kansas.

Longhorn cattle are making a comeback since their meat is very lean. Tough and gentle they are descendents of cattle that the Spanish brought with them mixed with cattle the pioneers used to draw their wagons. I had seen some in cowboy movies but didn't suspect how many there actually are before a site visitor, Shelia, tipped me off and I checked the web.

Dodge is an attractive little town - full of tourists, of course.

At Dodge City You can ride in a stage coach if you do that sort of thing.

And they have a steam engine from the cowboy era - always interesting.

This old photograph shows buffalo filling the valley with more coming down the hills behind.

Some real idiot shot them all.

This buffalo - made of old jeans looked like he needed to visit the dry cleaners.
